What if I told you that I have been waking up almost every single day at 5:00am for the past 3 years? You wouldn’t believe me, would you?Well, it’s true.
If you’re looking for non-hacky ways to wake up earlier, you’ve come to the right blog.Lettuce begin.
1)Take it slowly and gradually.
If you’re used to staying in, you won’t be able to wake up at 5:00am the next morning, right away. So, take it slow.
For example, gradually decrease the number of times you hit the snooze button.
Or, gradually change the time you set for your alarm from 10, to 9:30, to 9:15, etc.
That way you won’t feel much of a difference.
2)Start slow.
Yo, you’re already waking up at 5:00am.Take it slow in the mornings.Journal, do something you like, play music, clean your room, whatever gets you going for the day.Don’t “start” your day immediately.
3)Start with your favourite thing.
What do you like doing the most?Start your day with that.
This gets you excited for the day and motivates you to wake up in time.
For example, I love my blog(obviously). So the first thing that gets me going this early in the morning is blogging-y’know, checking comments, reading your blogs, all of that.
So when I feel like hitting the snooze button, I instantly remember that if I don’t wake up on time, I wont get time to do what I love AKA blogging.
4)Use your fave song as an alarm.
Go to your phone’s settings, and change your alarm tune from that boring standard tune to your favourite song.I promise, you’ll wake up not only instantly, but also all hyped up.
Like, I legit wake up shimmying to BTS-DNA instead of that boring standard alarm tune, and I’m already hyped AF for the day.
5)Start with a workout.
What? You don’t find this realistic? You think you won’t be able to do it?
It’s actually the easiest to do when you’re doing it in the morning.I promise.Set the vibe with some music, get your workout gear on, and GO.Move.The day will have never begun in a better way.
You don’t even have to become Cassey Ho and do a full-on workout, you literally just have to move and tell your body to turn sloth mode off.
6)Have somewhere to go to.
When I have my plans for the day, all concrete and ready, I tend to sleep in a lot lesser.
If you have somewhere to go, possibly for work or school, or a café to do some blogging, you’ll find that you tend to wake up without complains, simply because you have to.You tell yourself before-hand that there is no other choice.
7)Document the process!
I always tell you this, don’t I?But have you actually ever given it a try?I’m sure you haven’t.
Put the process and your everyday progress on Instagram, both you and your followers will be motivated. It’s also a lil tip to increase your Instagram following, because doing this actually attracts more people to your feed and gives them a reason to follow you.
If you do it, share it with me!I’m @nicculent on Instagram.
Remember, that “documenting” is not just for show. You want to make sure that you also get reminded of the fact that you have to do it, and it will help you look back and check your progress, and feel proud. It works as a reward.
8)Plan the day on the previous night.
Do this so that you don’t have to wake up at 5:00am instead of 9:00am, but spend a crap ton of time just wondering what you’re going to do, and then realizing that it’s already 8:00am and you’ve wasted all this time just planning and contemplating things.
This will also get you all excited for the day.
9)Give yourself enough sleep.
I you’ve slept for, like, 5 hours the night before waking up at 5:00am, you’ll have a concrete reason not to wake up and to hit the snooze button-“I didn’t get enough sleep last night, I’ll start over tomorrow”.But the next day you’ll find yourself staying up late at night again, and creating a cycle that is hard to get out of.
To avoid this, give yourself enough sleep.I’m not talking about the standard “you should get atleast 7-8 hours of sleep” bs, but how much sleep YOUR body needs. Some of you might work well with nly 6 hours, some of you might need 10 hours.Whatever works for you, boo.
Aaaand that’s it.Thank you for reading!I hope this helps you get more work done.

Working out first thing in the morning gets me going more than coffee! It’s hard to haul my ass to the gym that early but once I get going, I feel great. And even better afterwards! Getting oxygen to the brain with cardio helps me be sharp and therefore I am more productive with my work. There is the added bonus of also ensuring I have completed a workout for the day.

Ahhh this came at the perfect time! I got promoted at work recently so my hours have changed and now I have to be at work way earlier, so I’m still getting used to a new sleep schedule but I actually feel better for waking up earlier which I’m happy about. Also…BTS photo cards I see u !! Though I can never put a song I like as my alarm because I end up hating it…every time I hear it afterwards I’m like UGH that’s what I have to listen to at 6am when I don’t wanna get out of bed 😭😭 great post girly xx

I’ve been aiming to be up by 6 am. My first milestone. Right now I’m stuck at 7:10-7:30. And eventually 5 am. But, I’ll definitely tag you in my instagram story to keep myself accountable. Thanks for the tips 😉

My whole schedule is like totally opposite of this. lol I am a night owl, and I also work second shift. I go to sleep between 4 and 5 am usually, and my alarm is set for noon. (I have to be at work at 2 pm). I usually hit snooze for like at least half hour though. As soon as I get up, I do my bathroom deeds (emptying my bladder, brushing my teeth, showering), and then I immediately start getting ready for work. I’m usually rushing, trying to get ready in 30-40 minutes. Then I go to work. I actually prefer not to relax or do any activities prior to work because I get anxious and can’t enjoy it knowing that I have to go to work still. After work is when I truly relax, knowing that I don’t have to do anything or be anywhere else and I can just relax until bed time.

This is interesting!I’m glad your way works for you though.I know a lot of people who are complete night owls and still get their things done.Although, when I start my day off immediately with school work/blog work, I end up getting anxious af haha xx thanks for reading, love your blog!

I’ll admit, it’s probably not the best/most healthy thing for me to do. I always leave the house without eating or drinking anything (after being asleep all night), so I go to work and my brain has to start functioning, but it has no nutrients to help it function. Sometimes I do have trouble concentrating for the first half of work, until I go on break. But I’ve been doing this for a decade now. lol

Great advice! I’m not a morning person but I had to wake early for the kids. Tending my garden is my motivation to get up.

Fantastic tips here! My natural rhythm means I’m definitely not an early riser, but I have been gradually moving it earlier with a goal of 7am.

i think it helps to have a short commute to work or school. i feel like in america, everyone is always driving way too much. less commute time means more time for yourself in the morning.
